It is one of the most visited sites in the South Pacific of Nicaragua. Its lush vegetation and pleasant climate make this site an excellent home for many species of plants and animals, some of which are endemic meaning that can only be found in these places.
4×4 vehicles are required to enter the Nature Reserve.

There are three trails to explore in Mombacho Volcano, and one of them is The Cráter Trail. It has a distance of 1.5 Km (0.94 miles) that you perfectly can do in 1.5 hours. The total duration of this tour is 3.5 hours with transportation time, it might take longer if unexpected reasons show up such as accidents on the road, weather, or some other that we did not mention but that affects the itinerary, or you can do it in less time if you are in very good physical conditions.
